I skipped pass the places, sidewalks, showroom i longed to be noticed by, I tried to walk with my head down because they never said hi, but today? was it these lucky shoes? everyone kept smiling and trying to stare and see my face, my long Hermes scarves really did a good job of shielding my face from lookers, but suddenly the free spirited breeze took it away from me and everyone smiled and love my smile and I had to love them back for noticing my flawless face I've been taking care of for so long and I never felt so free, so happy, so at peace, was this a dream,? was this really happening? i couldn't believe it, I longed for days like this, i wanted something just like this,

Twins: A Road Paved Towards Expertise

“Chess is a game that requires careful thinking and analysis before making a move.” A statement by -- from grade 12 ABM of -- Senior High School. Along with his twin brother, -- from grade 12 HUMSS, they participated in a Chess competition for Intramurals on March 25, 2024. 

In addition, their fellow players are intrigued because they always have the same scores in their matches, which makes it a tie. They both have the same determined look while they are playing, which emphasizes how much they value playing such a riveting game. It inspires other players to also be as intent with their next moves, and anticipation about who is to win in every round envelopes the room.

Their interest in Chess began when their father taught them how to play back in 2015. They started playing with rigor and more interest in the game in 2023, with the help of Chess apps, YouTube videos about moves, and tactics to enhance their knowledge. Their interest in the game throughout the years was not consistent, but they ended up being active in the end, which proves that with time, passions will arise.

They also joined a school Chess tournament back in 2023, where they secured third place. This wonderful achievement sparked their interest. With the help of practice and consistency, anyone can be skillful in Chess. It’s not always about making sure of one’s victory, it’s about mindfulness of your moves, and most of all, having a great time while doing so.

Although they are equally drawn to the game, there are some differences in their playing styles. -- described that his brother tends to take more time to think and analyze more than him. It does not hinder him to also have his own victories with his own style and tactics. Chess can also be a hobby that is engaging and helps your mind calculate your opponent’s next moves.

Feedback is also recommended after playing Chess. Not only does it help you interact with your opponent, it also helps with analyzing every move made in the game, which will help both players understand why the other player won. All is fair in every game. Every outcome has its motive, and is reason enough to thoroughly analyze first before making a move.

What’s more, the -- twins recommend solving puzzles daily and playing with others to hone your skills in Chess. One cannot learn by themselves, which is also why watching other players online who give advice can improve your Chess performance. It creates many perspectives that a player can grab unto so that they have more awareness about the game.

Chess can sometimes be challenging, especially when playing against a skilled opponent, but a true player will not allow that to interfere with their ongoing interest. Motivation is also a must, because it allows the player to have a driving force for them to continue being interested in such a game filled with endless outcomes that will truly pique anyone’s interest if they set their mind to it.

Tupac once said, "Wild seeds can't grow, we need more abortions." Let's think about that for a second; let's forget about our religious beliefs or established moral codes and think logically. I will give an example: a 15-year-old gets pregnant. We all know that a child is a blessing, but this 15-year-old is a child herself and hardly takes care of herself. She comes from a poor home and got kicked out as a result of an unwanted pregnancy. She decides to keep the baby because abortion is against her religious beliefs.

To cut the story short, she tried her best to raise her precious baby, but reality hits; her best wasn't enough. As the child grew older, he started to understand the viciousness of life and decided in his mind to survive at all costs, even if he had to take it from others. A mind hardened by hunger and suffering, he started to defraud lonely white women. When that well dried up, he joined a gang, becoming the terror of the state. In his mind, he was doing all this just to survive and give his mother a better life, which is good, but the only problem was that he had to destroy other families just to achieve his aim. He robbed, murdered, and raped his victims; he became the demon that pastors prayed against.

I would love to say that he met his end at the wrong end of a rifle, but I can't, because he still roams the street looking for his next victim. All this would have been avoided if the 15-year-old just had an abortion. Wild seeds truly shouldn’t be allowed to grow; we need more abortions.

Another example is Hitler; you all know how it ended.

What are your thoughts? "Wild seeds can't grow." These days, I find myself pondering what "wild seeds" means. Would have asked Tupac, but he has gone to a better place. I sure hope so, because this place can be considered hell, well, to some people, especially the common Nigerians.

In my humble opinion, wild seeds are the people that cause harm to others, just to get ahead. They go down the path of destruction, refusing to build themselves and leave a better example for later generations. I will give an example; this one hits close to home. A girl from an impoverished family had nothing; the clothes on her back were given to her by the church. She didn’t give into peer pressure, being mocked every day for wearing rags. A beautiful lady full of life, she clung onto Jesus while her friends belonged to the streets. They tried to convince her to sleep around for riches, but she held onto her morals.

She took her time, learned a skill, became good at it until someone discovered her talent and took her to London to work. Now she has a PhD, built five houses in her country, and has changed her family's destiny. She is a Nigerian. There are other examples of people that came from nothing and became something; you just have to open your eyes to see them.

The piece oversimplifies complex issues like poverty, parenting, and crime and could be said to be logically flawed as the argument relies on hypothetical scenarios and assumes abortion would prevent societal problems.

Miss Nancy : Honestly, abortion isn't something I'm comfortable with. I know life's complicated, and people face tough choices, but for me, it's about respecting the value of life. My faith plays a big role in shaping my views, but even beyond that, it's just something that feels right to me.

Abortion is not legal but it can be understood where it is done for purely medical purposes to preserve the life of the mother. Meanwhile, Nigerian women should learn about giving up their babies for adoption despite the stigma of adoption in Nigeria.

In a nutshell I don't believe it is right to commit an abortion.

Chison : In my opinion, what a child turns out to become is not necessarily a result of the circumstances around their birth, but rather how they are trained and the choices they make and the path they choose to succeed. We need more education on abortion and unwanted pregnancy. Abortion should be legal and not something to be ashamed of; married people also have abortions if it's not planned. Underage pregnancy could be taken care of by her family, the government, or NGOs
